MISSION & HISTORY.

EBAAA is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization, located in Prince George County, MD, established to award scholarships to college-bound students for scholastic and academic achievements, and to honor the life of Bryan A. Broadie.

From Elementary through Senior High School, Bryan was an active participant in the MD Schools’ Physical Education Programs.  In 1959, seven-year-old Bryan A. Broadie insisted that his mother take him to the local baseball field where only White children played.  Bryan broke down racial barriers by becoming the 1st African-American Child to play for the Lanham Boys Club, now called the Lanham Boys and Girls Club.

Later, Bryan attended Duval Senior High School in Lanham, MD where he excelled as an extraordinary lead athlete on the Junior and Varsity Baseball, Basketball and Football teams.  Bryan was also a High Academic Achiever.  As a result, Bryan received numerous scholarships to attend a number of colleges and universities throughout the United States.

In 2014, Bryan’s life accomplishments were finally recognized by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission--becoming a part of Maryland's History--when the Baseball Field at Whitfield Chapel Park in Lanham, Md. was renamed, “The Bryan Alonzo Broadie Field” in his honor!

Though Bryan was unable to live out his life’s potential and fulfill his dreams, EBAAA seeks to honor his accomplishments and life—cut short in 1970 at age 17—by awarding scholarships to deserving students who desire to attend college, but require financial assistance to do so.

EBAAA is dedicated to providing scholarships to high school students, and encourages students to Stay Focused on achieving their goals successfully, both Academically and Personally!  EBAAA strongly believes that Motivation, Vision and Perseverance (MVP) will always produce positive results.
